Jerzy Dudek has advised Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to quit the Gunners after being axed in favour of David Ospina, as reported by the Mirror. The Gunners No 1, who was dropped due to his poor form and subsequently fined £20,000 after being caught smoking in the showers, has featured in three FA Cup games all year.

Manchester United v Arsenal - FA Cup Quarter Final

Arsene Wenger's side have lost once in the league since Ospina replaced the Polish international as first choice and have been linked with a £10m move for Chelsea's Petr Cech this summer.

Compatriot Dudek, a former Liverpool goalkeeper, said: “It's a serious matter.

“If I were in his place, I would wonder whether there are still opportunities to arise at Arsenal and wouldn’t wait as long as (Lukas) Fabianski, because you can see that Arsene Wenger is firmly set on David Ospina.

“Fortunately, (Poland) have two other goalkeepers who are able to provide an adequate level in our goal.”

Southampton v Swansea City - Premier League

Dudek points to Fabianski, who left the Emirates Stadium to join Swansea City last summer, and on loan Bournemouth goalkeeper Artur Boruc as two who could topple Szczesny as Poland's No 1.

“Lukasz Fabianski is in excellent form and, on the other hand, Artur Boruc is very experienced,” Dudek added.

“I think (Poland coach Adam) Nawalka will wait to make the decision until the very end. Wojciech is the least likely to play in the match with Ireland.”
